Visit of Kuwait’s Amir Symbolizes Strong Relations Between the Two Countries on the Sixtieth Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
Today, Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara, on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During this historic visit, several defense, economic, and investment agreements were signed between the two countries, enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields. These agreements include an executive protocol between the two governments “regarding government-to-government defense industry procurement contracts.”
This meeting also comes in the context of exchanging views on regional developments, including the situation in Gaza and the Israeli attacks on it, reflecting the strong solidarity between the two countries in facing regional challenges.
This visit aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between Kuwait and Turkey, as the trade volume between the two countries reached nearly $700 million in 2023. The two countries aim to increase trade and mutual investments through sectoral diversification and new cooperation mechanisms.
Bilateral relations between the two countries witness tangible economic activity, with over 400 Kuwaiti companies operating in Turkey, while around 50 Turkish companies are active in Kuwait. Moreover, Turkey welcomed around 400,000 Kuwaiti tourists last year.
Therefore, the visit of Kuwait’s Amir to Turkey and the agreements signed during it reflect an enhancement of bilateral relations and an increase in trade and investment exchange between the two countries. This reflects mutual trust and the desire to enhance cooperation in various economic and political sectors, thereby strengthening Turkey’s position as a significant investment destination in the region and supporting economic growth in the country.
